Why do these cupcakes taste woolly?

We had our absolutely fabulous Christmas lunch day at work today. We should have been getting manicures in the morning but unfortunately the girl was sick so we had to just work instead. BOO!! But at about midday we all finished and sat at the conference table to do secret santa. There's only 4 of us in our office so we all know each other really well and the presents were fabby. My colleague bought me this 'Keep Calm and Eat a Cupcake' poster, a booked called That Zombie Ate my Cupcake (perfect!) and 2 hand warmers shaped as, what else, cupcakes!! We had some champagne and nibbles and had a fabby time.

Then we marched off to Rhubarb at Prestonfield House for our Christmas lunch. I've never been here before but WOW it was excellent. Far too classy for me. ;) We had some nice prelunch drinks in one of the drawing rooms then had a delicious three course lunch. We gave out some verbal awards to our colleagues in the New York office (ie Best Screwup of the Year, Person We Would Most Like to Retire etc), all amongst ourselves of course! Then after lunch we retired to one of the drawing rooms for petit fours and coffee.

Needless to say I want to go back. And not only because they had this cute little serving plate of knitted cupcakes in the foyer (although that was a real bonus ;)) but it was just so decadant and they really took very good care of us.

Tomorrow Lucy goes to the vets (she's getting scabby again - ugh) and cleaning the house for my parents coming over on Christmas Day. Also the annual watching of Muppets Christmas Carol. :D
