Christmas Eve...
No blip yesterday as I was too busy preparing for the festivities.
I cleaned the house top to bottom to the point it positively sparkled! R helped too but he was working out of town for part of the day. I finished the last bits of our shopping for our meal this evening. We wrapped the presents and R finally got our washer working (we've had a leak in the garage where the washer is) so that I could get that all out of the way (and we would have clean clothes for the big day) by the end we were complete in our preparations. All the days hard work meant that today has been a day of fun and relaxation.
We've had a joint baking session this morning where we made chocolate truffles one set plain and one set baileys. R helped with the mixing of one set of the truffles and then we made cheese straws. All will be taken up to home to be enjoyed with our family tomorrow.
The rest of the day has just been complete chill out before preparing our meal this evening which was fantastic!
We started off with prawns, Scottish smoked salmon, avocado with salad and seafood sauce. Then for main we had duck with a cherry based stuffing and all the trimming to go with it. Was superb. We were that full we skipped dessert! But we did wash it all down with a bottle of Moet to celebrate our first opportunity to have our own Christmas celebration at home.
In the past years we have always travelled up to our respective Mums on Christmas Eve which has made today a very special day!
Can't believe we're waking up at home tomorrow!
