Bleak.
It would really be wrong to pretend that today was anything other than, well, bleak.
The morning started off well when the dogs had decided that they could not wait until I got up at the preassigned time (long lies taken in shifts during holidays) and instead they had decided the floor was as good a place as any. So, muttering, it was dealt with before breakfast was finally partaken of.
Thereafter came the chore of deciding on the days activities and after we had done the "what's on at the pictures (cinema)" dance we opted to stay in, sort out some computer bits and bobs and maybe, just maybe, go out for lunch.
Not quite how it worked out though. Who would have anticipated that on opening the box containing the brand spanking new hard drive we would find plugs, wires and base units - but no hard drive! So a trip into town to get that sorted and then out for said lunch.
Drove home by the back roads in the vain hope of catching some interesting misty shots. Almost got one too. Some sheep were grazing on greens that had started to pop their heads through the snow and after weeks of white, they looked amazing. Well, camera in hand I crunched my way through the dirty grey piles of snow stacked up against the dyke so that I could get a better look. Was slightly taken aback when I realised that the closest sheep hadn't run away because it couldn't.
Not that the sight of a dead sheep would normally have put me off, but the view in the other direction sucked and I wasn't getting into a muddy field to shoot round it. So, went home with only a couple of shots worth speaking of.
Needless to say when we arrived home another problem raised it's ugly head. The daughter found out that HER hard drive wasn't working either.
Sigh. Bleak indeed!
PS Am guessing here, but suspect this probably looks better big.
