It was hard to believe today that the previous 24 hours had brought such havoc to places around the region - including my beloved Golden Bay :(

400mm of rain falling quickly on previously droughted land is not a good thing. Fortunately no body has been hurt but that's more than can be said for other things - farm animals have been washed away, campers have had their tents and belongings washed away, bridges have been washed away, houses have been flooded.............but then today - bright sunshine, blue skies and chirping birds. In Golden Bay they're saying it's the worst floods in 150 years. Amazing.

Fortunately for us here in town there wasn't the destruction experienced elsewhere. This liy might have looked a lot worse for wear if we'd been hit as hard.
