The Rot Has Set In
After a very late night, and a late start to the day I spent most of the day observing. Not really having much impact but quietly observing.
I noticed a number of things that could have passed me by. I noticed two cars with flat tyres, probably as a result of the number of enormous potholes the snow has left behind. I noticed a couple having a hammer and tongs fight in the car behind me through my mirror. I noticed several pieces of forgotten and rotten fruit in the house. I noticed a pile of ironing which I don't remember having. I noticed my purse seemed empty. I noticed my nail polish was all chipped and ready to peel off. I noticed that all the alcohol I had bought for myself over Christmas was still sitting there barely touched.
A number of these things I can do something about. Some I wanted to do something with - like a photo project of couples and emotions - wouldn't that be interesting. 'Excuse me, no please do carry on arguing, I just wondered, could I take a shot of it?' How many black eyes would you come away with? Hats off to street photographers.
After some essential Ne'er Day food shopping - my turn to make the steak pie, I wandered off to the allotment to see if I could rescue any of the soil laden vegetables.
The allotment has of course been submerged in all the snow. This is the first time I have been able to see much. Rather than see though, it was the smell of rotten vegetables that hit me. Only really leeks remain and they are worse for wear. All others have been eaten or have rotted like this artichoke. Somehow it still manged to look beautiful despite its decay. A bit like me really! Ha Ha Ha!
