Merry Christmas! II
A great day today. No snow, but blue sky, crisp air, and a nice walk at the refuge along the lake. The ice is really thin, sssshhhing with the wind-driven current. Sometimes sounding like crickets, other times chorus frogs.
I took some more photos of the dam repair work, then we tossed rocks onto the ice and through the ice, making holes that spouted water as the rocks plunged through, then broke off thin sheets ("icebergs") that floated out into the lake a bit, sometimes with a rock floating on it. Of course, those became targets for more rocks.
We walked back along the shore and came across this bunch of ice that I'd seen from the dam and wanted to get closer to photograph. Monique said, "Do you see all the colors?". I was looking at something else and she was looking at the polarized colors caused by the refraction in the thin ice. It was very cool.
