The Birds
We've had to evacuate the flat, there were nine siskins on the balcony, there were four siskins on the nyjer seed feeder, there were three siskins on the nut feeder and four more on the sunflower feeder. There was some ominous music playing in the background, then they started looking menacingly into the flat - we decided to make a run for it and headed for the Fife coast.
This wee bird seemed unperturbed by the waves crashing around him. According to the guide book "Few waders are as tightly restricted to one habitat as this one. It spends most of its time at the very edge of the surf, searching through wave-washed, weed-covered rocks for its food. It is hard to see against the dark seaweed, particularly in its darker winter plumage, but its yellow-based, rather downcurved bill and yellow legs are useful clues to its identity." This one seems to tick all the boxes, must be a Purple Sandpiper.
Happy New Year Everyone.
