Mapaam Chaak-kouba

A typical grand feast, the traditional style. Only the green banana leaves are replaced by modern stainless steel dishes!

After the sixth day of marriage, the bride and the groom along with all family, friends and relatives are invited to a grand feast by the bride's family.


Main dishes :

Rice,
fish curry,
fried fish dipped in soup,
singju(salad),
iromba,
hawai thongba(lentils),
chamfut(boiled vegetable),
utti(in sodium bicarbonate),
sagol hawai,
soibum(fermented bamboo shoots) with fish,
ngarinkha ngouba(fried fish with potato),
hei thongba (desserts),
tomato with fish,
pickles(mustard seeds, green chilly, amla, salt)

In this style of feast, numerous cooks are involved in both cooking and distributing the foods in several rounds well before the beginning of start-up till the end concluding with desserts and salt.
