Red Flag = High Shark Alert

This flag on Glencairn beach, snapped on a walk to Simon's Town, didn't seem to deter a windsurfer nearby. A similar one on Fish Hoek beach did nothing to dissuade dozens of swimmers either. Even my mum, who is scared of sharks since a Zimbabwean tourist was eaten last year, swam (but just a quick dip in a rock pool off the catwalk).
