Heron on a shopping trolley

Firstly many, many thanks for the kind birthday wishes. I was in the middle of catching up with my comments yesterday when we lost access to the internet, and this has only just been restored. Hence the late posting of yesterday's image.

I spotted this heron on the morning dog walk and tthought it would make an ideal subject, on a day otherwise lacking in interest. It was only when I got home and looked at it on the screen that I noticed the heron was perched on an old shopping trolley. At least it's of some use, rather than just being an eyesore. I suspect it will soon be absorbed into the marginal vegetation.

I'm off out now to do the last socialising of the Christmas season (postponed as a result of illness). I probably won't have time to look at all your pictures and comment until very late this evening or tomorrow morning. I look forward to catching up with you all then!
