~~Backblip~~

Well, New Year turned out to be quiet and interesting! We had to stop on the way to Lanarkshire so that Mathew could chunder by the roadside. Out with the old, and all that!

When we got to my auntie's about tennish, he went straight to bed. I woke him up about 10 past 11, and he decided he wanted to get up. By half past we were in the local pub - and very full it was. After some more al-fresco vom, we went back inside for the bells.

A small group of teenage girls were in high spirits, and began a count-down to midnight... not realising that the clock they were using was out of synch with the rest of the world. As they were cried down for proudly declaring "Happy New Year" to one and all a few moments early, most of the pub missed the firing of Mons Meg so that the exchange went something along the lines of:

"Happy New Yea-"
"It's not Ye-"
"HAPPY NEW YEAR!"

We lasted about 45 minutes, til Mathew decided he needed bed again. I hadn't bothered drinking, in case Mathew needed a trip to hospital - luckily he didn't!

Somewhere in the night.... the lurgy caught up with me :(

Woke up in the morning with a high fever and splitting headache. Managed to get up for some breakfast, then lay down for another half hour that turned out to be several hours. It's unusual for us both to be ill at the same time!

Didn't have much of an appetite for dinner. I struggled through the soup, and moved the steak pie around the plate, but just couldn't face it. Didn't even attempt pudding.

The photograph shows chip (sometimes known as Chipadoo) - the dog belonging to my cousins (not the children of the auntie we were visiting, but they were invited along with their parents and Chip as well, and all arrived on New Years Day while Mathew and I were spark out).

The rest of the family had great fun on cousin Drewie's X-box Kinnect - I didn't have the energy for it, instead I just concentrated on trying to get a snap of Chip. He's a handsome chappy, eh?
