Cat in the Tree
In the firm belief that 5 January is Eleventh Night,* this cat is allowed one final full night of repose on our Christmas tree. He likes it here, because it is brighter and warmer than the box where he spends most of the year.
You have met this cat before (BlipFoto for 12 Jan 2010), and the circumstances of his birth, or at lest his translation to this house, are explained in the earlier entry. @Stu_arts confirms that the cat is definitely a "he": it's to do with the glint in his eye. He was deported to the UK by my sister in Boston.
*Please do not imagine that I am unaware of arguments that by the evening of 5 January we have already reached Twelfth Night, and the tree and other decorations should not remain after midnight. But I have consulted the cat, who assures me that Christmas Eve and Advent last until midnight on 24 December, so that 6 January is the real Twelfth Night. See here, a page from the Daily Telegraph, a newspaper always accurate (so it says) in all its statements, that confirms our cat's view.
