Bringing in the New Year

Twa pipers and a 'dignatory' to bring in the New year in Newtonmore!

Not the clearest of blips (clearly!) but captured the moment as the two pipers met in the middle of Main Street having led torch bearing folk form either end of the village. After that we all headed for the golf course for a firework display, accompanied by a dram and shortbread.

Did I mention it was in the Highlands? Pretty much a usual Friday nicht although the fireworks made a difference.

The other specatacular addition this year (last year?) was the setting off of Chinese Lanterns - supplied by Tesco I think but pretty impressive. Best bit was seeing them all being lit and taking flight with varying degrees of success ... depending on the sobriety of the lighter!
