Pluto: The Keith Chegwin of the Solar System
This picture is interesting. It is of a diagram showing the major bodies of the known Solar System from one of my astronomy books, published in 1880. As you can see, the diagram has Neptune as the eighth and most distant planet from our Sun.
Since it's publication 131 years ago, Pluto, the ninth planet, has been discovered (1930) and subsequently demoted/slapped to dwarf-planet/unremarkable midget status (2006) thus making the above diagram correct once again.
Out with the new and in with the old.
Cool.
