Just a lil' something.....
I won't even admit to how long I slept in this morning. (All right, 11am). 11am? That is something that the 'pre-children' me might have done on the weekend. Those sleep-in mornings have been long gone for a long time. My husband can not sleep in. It is pretty much impossible for him. And I could tell by my 'perked ears' that he was getting breakfast ready for the kids.....so I fell back asleep. And I have to admit. It was pretty great. And obviously needed.
When I came downstairs, everyone was involved in a project. My husband was painting the inside of a closet. My daughter was working on her art (but that is an all day experience anyways). My son......well actually, he was running on the same kind of morning that I was. He was curled up in a blanket on the couch watching a movie. My son has my morning tendencies. And my daughter very clearly has my husbands. And I have to brag for a moment, my husband had a warm pan of waffles, eggs, and turkey sausage waiting in the oven. WOW!
I actually have gotten a ton done today. I organized our greeting cards. I know this seems silly but I had a huge box of mixed greeting cards and envelopes that needed to be sorted into a new wire container that will now live in our brand new cabinets. I then went on to write a couple of little notes that I've been wanting to do for some time. I got them addressed and stamped. I made my own little 'basket' for the cabinets. A place where I can throw my loose pieces of important papers, etc. and not get any grief for it because it is my basket and I can do with 'my basket' as I want. My husband lives by the theory that EVERY SINGLE THING in our house needs to have a spot. And I love that. I really do. But I still need my own kind of 'junk drawer'. I just need that for my own sanity. And it is a huge accomplishment today that I have created and begun to fill my own little junk basket. I like to save little thoughtful notes. Or articles from the paper. Or a cool photo from a magazine. So now I have made a place to throw all of that stuff.
I truly have learned an incredible amount of how to be organized by my husband and my Mom. You can just imagine when the two of them get together. They can be slightly overwhelming with the excitement that they share for things like, "Hey I know, let's clean out everything from under the bed today". And my response is always a little different, "Let's not and just leave it all there". As you can see, I am growing in this area. And I have always heard that it is more, Feng Shui, to have more movement in your house. So 'Feng Shui' we are. As long as I still have a place to throw my stuff when I am not in the mood to put it in it's 'place'.
I went outside to get a nice photo of nature today. With this freezing cold weather, this is the only thing that I could find that resembled a flower in any sort of way. But of course I like it. Because it is artsy and different and has a lot of movement. We've all enjoyed a nice quiet Sunday together.....gearing up for the super busy week that we have ahead of us. We have a huge National Football game to watch. A big dinner night here for some friends who are in town. And I have a 'baby' photo shoot. And of course there is school and all of the other activities that make up our week.......
I backblipped yesterday's delightful day.
