Queen's University, Belfast
QUB was founded by Queen Victoria in 1845 as Queen's College, Belfast; and it became a full university in 1908. This charter set QUB apart as ahead of its time - having a principle of strict non-denominational teaching (tho the name and connection with London-based royalty suggests something of a political, if not religious, stance); providing for a student on the university Senate and made women equal with men in eligibility for the holding of any office or advantage.
It's a good place. And not all as gothic as it appears above. Today I worked with some lovely people here.
