Loud and Clear

I hear you, Ben. Loud and clear!

He may have a quiet speaking voice (except when you ignore him) but my goodness there's nothing wrong with his lungs when he's on a singing spree.

At lunchtime we had a medley of baa baa black sheep bouncy wool, and row row boat row row boat. At breakfast we learnt the signs for crocodile and dinosaur and polar bear (which I made up out of cold and bear), and sang row row row your boat together with lots of actions so I suppose that was fresh in his mind. Not heard him sing baa baa black sheep before, not with a second line as well anyway! I love listening to him sing. Although at the table his mouth is almost directly in line with my ear and he is very very loud. (And tuneful, I must add.)

Today we have played with the train set (see yesterday for a celebratory dance from Ben, and last friday for some serious track building) and, once that was finished with, we put it all away and got the cars and the garage out. I did some filing while Ben played and when I heard the sound of cars being hurled liberally around the living room I went and intervened. After a little cry from being told off, Ben brightened up considerably when I mentioned that lunch was ready. Cars went back in their basket (gently, as Ben was keen to point out!) and lunch was ate.

Then came the singing and once he was cleaned up and put down (and, like the Duracell bunny, off he trotted) he asked for his drumsticks and proceeded to play a tune ish as he sang. I love it when he sings. He seems so contented. Not aggressive, not needing to burn off energy, not needing assistance, just happy to sing and to be. And to have something melodic to hit while he sings, that's the icing on the cake.

Which reminds me.

I said I'd make some biscuit dough while he slept (we're back on daytime naps it would seem - evidently he's decided that 12 hour days are just not for him yet) (which means late nights again, but then, that's how it's been anyway) (he'd better not have a nap next Thursday though, I would very much like him in bed and asleep by 7).

While that's chilling in the fridge I'll do a spot of painting in his bedroom. You never know, we might actually be able to move in to his room within a month. Then we can start work on the front bedroom and make it less... well... horrible. I think I might find a few pictures from when we bought the house and started work on it, and back blip them.... later, perhaps! Will link to them tomorrow if I've done them and if I remember :)
