Homeward bound
I wasn't originally planning to blip this because it was another night shot in the wet. But I just liked the way the camera had fortuitously captured the two women walking home past our office in Bristol.
I think the highlight of today was helping a blind man across the road just a few yards from where this photo was taken.
I'm not mentioning this in a pathetic attempt to get positive comments, but because it was actually rather amusing.
I first grabbed his arm when he was a quarter of the way across - white stick in hand - and heading for a traffic bollard in the middle of the road. And no matter how hard I tugged at his raincoat and shouted 'go left, go left, you're heading for the bollard', he still slammed his shoe into the kerb before almost sitting, appropriately, on the keep left sign.
The same thing happened when we had almost completed crossing the road - his feet insisting on walking to the raised kerb instead of veering left, as requested, to where it was lowered for pedestrians.
And, to round it off, no matter how hard I tried to haul him left, I just could not stop him heading for a brick wall and a prickly thorn bush alongside the pavement.
I bet anyone watching was in fits of laughter and thinking what a terrible job I was making of playing the good Samaritan. But he was a nice old chap and I think he, too, had a chuckle before heading for the city centre.
The interesting thing was the question he asked me when we first met: "Did you see that big crane behind us?"
"Oh yes," I answered.
Errr. Now how did he know that?
