Night Heron

As those of you who subscribe to Meles will know, we took a trip to the zoo today. It was quite quiet, and I took a tonne of photos.
In the end, though, I decided to go with this Black-crowned Night Heron (Nycticorax nycticorax) having a bit of trouble with his fine hackles in the breeze.
They are summer visitors to the south of Britain, who migrate down to Africa for winter, but there is a permanent feral population based at the zoo (occasionally seen around town).
