Almond Castle (Haining Castle)

After a 15 minute wallk through an industruial estate near Whitecross i finally found the old ruined castle, even tho its fenced off it has been broken into at the back so i went in for a wee look. Also found Wallaces Stone near Almondell :)

The castle appears to have been first built as a tower-house in the fifteenth century by the Crawford family. By the time it came into the hands of Forbes it was uninhabited and ruinous. In recent decades the ruin has survived within the work premises of Stein's of Manuel.
