History lesson

One of the most difficult things about living in another country is not having the cultural baggage, not understanding nostagic references or historal context. To compensate I listen to a lot of French radio, while in the car, in my studio or like today, painting the ceiling of the gite that we are renovating. Todays topics were the 50th anniversary of the independence of the Congo, the beheading of Louis xvi and the history of the "pantalon" all much more interesting than painting white on white.
