Neuvy deux Clochers

I live in in little village called Neuvy deux Clochers, which means "new town with two bell towers" a name dating from the middle ages. There are no longer two bell towers as you can see but there are two stories:

Apprarently a king (who i've no idea) decided that the bell tower should no longer be where it was and ordered it to be moved so for a while there were two. The other story being simply that there were two churchs, one of which there remaind no record.

Which one did the locals make up the amuse the english bird?
