Inside, Everyone Hides One Desire

Both Si and I were very energetic today, well to be honest, he was far more energetic than me.

I bounced out of bed at the early time of 9.40 and went for a walk, with the object of seeing how far into 5km I could make. Let's just leave that for now. Si followed me on a walk, albeit a different direction, and came back after completing a round trip of 5 miles, (cough cough, far better than me).

He then decided that while he was feeling awake and alert, he would move a tree and dig over his chosen "vegetable patch". Easier said than done. Two small trees, and then we remembered the abandoned fish pond. I had tried to revive it once, and gave up realising that the previous owner had cut holes in it to drain it into the soil.

Si was hard at it for two hours. Not only was the old base full of sand, but these massive boulders too! He really wished he hadn't started.

When I see the fishpond, I'm always reminded of this story.

My Uncle was out in his garden digging it over for the coming planting. As he dug, he came across not one, not two but three dead goldfish. Not only were these goldfish dead, but they were all halved.

He glanced upwards, and around trying to decide where the fish had come from, and spied the little lad next door, trying to look less guilty.

"What happened to the fishes?", Uncle Jack asked, "Uhm", said the little lad, "they were wet, so I wrung them out, but they kept breaking".
