A Royal Tapestry
Went to visit Stirling Castle today. It has a rich history and when the restoration of the Royal Palace is complete in Summer 2011 it will return 6 apartments to how it would have looked in the mid-16th century. I'm looking forward to photographing it when it is finished.
This blip picture is of the tapestry that hangs above the 2 royal thrones in the restored Great Hall. Beautiful rich colours in a splendid large hall which has a spectacular wooden hammerbeam roof and beautiful stained glass windows. Its a thrilling visit and you get a real sense of history in the room. The Great Hall is apparently the largest banqueting hall in Scotland. Built in 1503 by James IV to impress his new bride Margaret Tudor (daughter of England's Henry VII)
Hope you like the photo.
