alice's adventures

random lunch anyone?

The best thing is that Finlay has turned a corner and is hungry again.
On Saturday he cut up all the vegetables for Granny to make soup.
On Sunday he took his skinny little legs for a good walk and came back ravenous.

He's back in the race.

There is something very pleasing to the eye about a ready laid table. It's a calm thing.

There was nothing even remotely calm though about the preparation of the meal that followed. It was an unscheduled and surprise lunch initiative, devised solely by 9-10 year old boys. It was for the grown ups who were still to return from a restorative sunday walk. The chef's had no plan other than to a. make lunch and b. for it to be a surprise.

The table is laid for the proposed menu of:

Fried Chorizio
Ice cream (taken out the freezer well in advance)
Orange squash and Iron Bru fizz
Tea (made far enough in advance to be sure it is nicely stewed)
Bacon
Sandwiches (possibly with bacon, maybe with Chorizio?)
Cream

Without wanting to compromise the integrity of the chefs there was a little intervention.

We had BLT's and made all the right noises at the other delights.

The meal came with a guarantee that it has been lovingly prepared and extremely well handled.
