Mother-Son Chest X-Rays

Today Landon had a doctor's appointment regarding his cough/fever. When the doctor heard I had standing orders for a follow-up chest x-ray for myself today...he said to take Landon with me so he could get one too. Bonding over mother-son chest x-rays wasn't my plans for the day...but we both got them done. I went immediately back up to his doctors after the x-rays per his request and lo and behold, Landon has pneumonia too!!! Ahhhhhhh! I hadn't expected that, nor did the doctor considering his lungs didn't sound bad. I'm sure glad he ordered an x-ray. Luckily, Dr. thinks his is a different strain of pneumonia than mine because not a large area is affected and his fevers are much lower than mine have been. I have a bit of mommy-guilt for taking him to the soccer tournament this weekend and for letting hit around the baseball yesterday. He just didn't seem too sick. Between waiting twice to see the doctor, waiting for the x-rays and waiting at the pharmacy....that took up a good deal of our day. Then, I realized Landon left his lunchbox there, so we had to retrace our steps and luckily found it in the pharmacy.

On a positive note, I tried a new recipe tonight that the family liked. It was another bizarre concoction-type recipe that I found in the paper. It was a penne pasta dish with the sauce being from canned pumpkin. The picture looked good, though, so I tried it. Luckily you really couldn't tell it was pumpkin...it was more of a thickening agent with a bit of flavor. I'll probably make it again, considering Loren really liked it. Gary made a yummy salad to go along with it. We haven't cooked together in ages, so it was kind of nice.

In the evening, poor Landon had some sort of allergic reaction because he started itching all over his legs and had red patches. I gave him Benadryl and layed with him while watching his breathing. Luckily his breathing wasn't affected and he finally was able to fall asleep once the itching subsided. Coughs kept him up here and there, yet again, but he slept between the fits. It's so hard to see any one of my children sick and I didn't sleep much with worry. Unfortunately, I also found out from my repeat chest x-ray that I still have pneumonia and I have to start on round 2 of antibiotics that make me feel almost as icky as the pneumonia itself. I'm praying to see good health soon, as not being a part of the 'real world' is getting old. THIS BLIP PHOTO IS OF MY BOY GETTING HIS CHEST X-RAY TODAY. TAKEN WITHOUT GOOD LIGHTING AND A PHONE DOESN'T COUNT FOR A DECENT PIC...SO SWITCHING IT TO BLACK AND WHITE HELPED A BIT :)
