THE LAST RUIN

A few blips back, I mentioned the last ruin in our immediate neighbourhood. This is it. It was once a barn and has the typical tile vents. It looks beyond repair but it isn't. There are still builders here who could put this right back together, turn the interior into an efficient little house with beamed ceilings and a traditional fireplace. A room or two that looked as if they had been there forever might be added, given planning permission, of course.

The trouble with it is its location at the bend in the road which almost wraps round it. It has some land with it, some olive trees and the big old cherry tree which I suspect is dead. The vet's house is just up the road. (This is very convenient for us. She makes house calls and often doesn't charge because we are neighbours so we give her olive oil for the same reason.)

The T junction marks only the end of the public road. Beyond it are roads owned by an assortment of people. We continue on, hugging a cliff face on a one-lane road, until the very end of all roads.

Very poor light today.

A closer look with a peek at the interior is here: Close up.

For the record: Grey skies. It's +5 C, +1 at night. Sunrise 7:42; sunset 5:20. A miserable day as far as the weather goes. A food parcel from the UK arrived containing shameful packets of dried cheddar cheese sauce.
