Runaway train!
Instead of going to Bantry for the weekly shop, himself headed for Skibbereen, and I went too! Almost too much excitement for us rural types. Skibbereen was actually a bit of a mess - the roads were all up, a lot of the shops seemed down at heel and it just felt a bit tired. Still, the shopping was achieved and we had a lunch in a converted church which had been burnt down two years ago by a drunken Polish man and recently rebuilt at vast expense. I also bought a very large pot to repot my fig tree. This mural adorns the side wall of a pub. It's quite impressively done and has a very 3D feel to it. it was either this or some rather nice Victorian tiles on a derelict building. Ho hum!
We stopped off to see our friends who are just returned from a big craft show in Dublin - apparently very successful and lots of orders came in. They were in the middle of trying to catch their cat, Freddie White, and put him in a basket to take to the vet - he has a sore eye. Somehow he know exactly what the plan was and was putting up an impressive fight.
Tonight we may go to the cinema - the film sounds a bit worthy but has won many awards. Its about the impact of Shell and its search for oil on a small rural community in the west of Ireland. Maybe.
