The Most Dreaded Day of the Year

The first day of skiing for the season--getting your ski-legs back can be a tiring ordeal.

Forget that Sal has been a skier for nearly twenty years of her life*, forget that one season was spent--no wasted snowboarding, forget that she has been wintering away from the mountains for the past three seasons. Forget it all and focus on the fact that this is a new day, a new season!

I'm legitimately surprised that I did not mess my pants on the first run when we got off of the list and headed straight toward the sign that said (in big, menacing letters):
EXPERTS ONLY
Variable Conditions Exist
Proceed With Caution

'oh bugger, what have I gotten myself into'
But it was too late because my ski buddies, my dad and his friends, were already headed down the trail.
'Crap, now I have to catch up.'
This would also be the reason no photo was taken of that sign. Actually, I had to sneak in some picture-taking opportunities when the guys had stopped for brief chats to catch their breath. No chance I was going to let some fifty-year-old dudes out-ski me. No sir.

At the end of the day I wasn't at all sore and I even had enough energy to go see a movie with some friends (it was
The Prestige and I'm only plugging this because one of our old friends shared some screentime with Hugh Jackman, which was very exciting and I had to point out to the rest of our friends sitting in the movie theatre)

Another sign of a good day--I saw the sun rise and set! Being out of the house is so nice, and these views make it hard to leave this state.
