Danish Design #1: "Y-Stole"
Hans J. Wegner: 1950. These black ones are from 2006.
(Danish Words: Stole = Chairs)
It's remarkably comfortable and relaxing to sit in (despite what I say bellow).
In a country with a population smaller than inner London, Danish Design is a matter national of pride . They have a 100 year rock solid patent on design, so no cheap knock offs in every high street chain. This inevitably means that top designs hold and increase in price. There are too many well known examples to name but there are architects, jewllers, furniture and gadget designs that you are all familliar with that come from Denmark: Sydney Opera House, Georg Jensen, The Egg Chair ("The Party") and B&O, to name a few.
I knew my entry yesterday would cause confusion as soon as I read it so here's an explaination. I had an opperation to remove a harmless but irritating lump from my harmless irritated rump, hence the need to stay still. So it was nothing to do with my facial reconstruction opperation (for which I am still several months away from the serious cutting).
