Down the Wood
Following the horizontal monsoon of the last two days, we were interested to see what, if any, damage had ocurred down the wood. Yes, there were several new branches down but very little of any consequence. However, the drainage ditches have had a right good flush-out. These ditches are usually merely mud-bottomed trenches but were really in full spate this morning. This particular torrent could be heard from quite a distance; an unusual sound for the wood.
Just off the phone with my sister in Melbourne: they have had flash floods from the tail end of the storm which recently hit Queensland. Really, the summer in Oz and NZ this year has been very poor, I hope this is not an indicator of our summer to come. Keep those fingers crossed.
