Off to new beginnings

Suburb versus city

In my quest to get to know my old, new, big city better, I took a trip out to Lichterfelde West this morning, one of Berlin's lovelier, greener areas. Pretty much untouched by 2nd WW bombings, this area is full of cobbled streets and majestic mansions, all in differnt colours and shapes. It was lovely to walk those avenues and breathe in the fresh air and quietness - at only 15 minutes S-Bahn ride from the centre, this is quite a jewel - but still, I did feel a lack of street life...apart from the graffiti I guess which isn't missing from anywhere in this city!
