Joe's Blips

Spherical Sculpture

It's 8pm and we are just back from a visit to the Irish Museum of Modern Art in Dublin where we spent the day refreshing our visual batteries. I was going to say a lot more about the trip but the hour is late and the time is short.

This piece of sculpture was made by Romauld Hazoume from Benin. His works criticise the presence of multi-national oil companies in West Africa where natural resources are exploited with no benefit to local communities, a form of neo-colonialism which Hazoume equates with an unending form of slavery.

Forgive me if I don't get to comment on your blip today. I will get to as many as I can, but the hour is getting late. Will try to catch up tomorrow.
