Deeply rooted...?
A trip to a National Trust property, Hardcastle Crags, was just the tonic today. The weather continued to be its filthy self but being sheltered in a deep valley meant that much of the 2-3 mile walk was accomplished sans waterproofs. A cunning dodge from the rain whilst scoffing soup and cake in the cafe was a result! The kids had fun unleashing their "deadly weapons" (sticks foraged from the undergrowth) on each other and todays pic was taken whilst they explored a child-sized cave on the way back to the car. Despite the usual bickering, it was great to get out in the fresh air and have a tromp...oh and learn a bit about our 19th century ancestors! :-)
