A bit of a rant...

I had a very splendid start to the day - waking up next to the person you love is amazing!! :-)

Today has been filled with outrageously goopy, loved-up thoughts, all of which has meant that for much of the day I have been a big bundle of cheeriness. Even having to go round to my old home to collect the last of my stuff only put a temporary dent in my mood! Something this afternoon, however, did stir the blood in a slightly Victor Meldrew "I don't believe it...!" sort of way...

...so here starteth the rant: There had been something in last week's parent bulletin about plans to build houses on land adjacent to the school car park but I hadn't appreciated the scale until I saw the planning notice nailed to a telegraph pole: 4 houses on a tiny piece of land, in a small street that is already heavily congested with parents' cars twice a day! It is mad that the school was denied the opportunity to purchase the land directly next to the school 2 years ago so it could expand (badly needed): land now occupied by a development of apartments, most of which remain empty due to lack of demand! HA! The land that is now targeted for development would be perfect as additional playground space or for the school to build new facilities. To build 4 more new houses, when there is a struggling property market, a surplus of housing in the area and the land could be put to much better use just seems nuts. Grrr!! There is talk of parents gathering together to launch a concerted campaign against the development. Hmm, 'think I shall find out more...

...anyway, here endeth the rant and today's blip. I'm off to bed to dream sweet, untroubled dreams. :-)
