Merry Legs

Too lovely a late afternoon to drive the 3 km between home and Cahuzac. Instead, we dug the old bicycle out of the shed and pumped up the tyres. The brakes were sticky and not to be trusted.
La Borde is on a hill, Bordebasse, my destination, is on the opposite hill. Between them is the valley of the Vixiege - an aqueus entity which is a dribble in the summer and merely a large stream in the winter, but has, in a former, possible ice-age life, managed to create an expansive valley of flat, lush fields.
One kilometre of hill down to the valley - too unsure of the brakes to enjoy the wind-rush, I walked beside the bike.
One kilometre of hill up the valley, too unsure of my legs, I walked beside the bike, it's pedals turning in a ghostly way.
One kilometre of flat-lush-field road. The bike got off lightly today.
