Pleasure.....

....in the beauty of a flower

....in our relationships and the people we love

....in beauty, art, music

All these are related to the priciples of Venus in Astrology. Today I received a call to say a poem I wrote has won first prize of £1000. The poem is to be printed in an Anthology of 250 poems from poets all over the country. The poets in the Anthology all vote for the one they like best so the overall winner is chosen by their peers.

Venus also rules money as well as what and who we value.

Valuing oneself comes in part from within and partly that others value you too. This also a Venusian principle as she rules partnerships of all kinds.

It has taken me a long time to be brave enough to write, to think I have anything of value to offer, so this means a lot in many ways. I have posted the poem before but here it is again and so, so chuffed, I am surprised you can't see me smiling from here :D

Star Dancing


I contemplate a flawless sky
Fractured by winter branches
Reflectively I wonder why
The stars enact their dances

Inscrutably they twinkle down
As they wander timeless paths
Like jewels upon a velvet gown
The hands of gods have cast

From their complex patterns shine
Ancient wisdom of the past
Rich knowledge of a different time
Holds secrets, deep and vast

Are answers there for us to see
Or are they deep inside
The answers that would set us free
Within where gods reside

I contemplate an endless sky
For my questions I seek answers
In my dreams my soul can fly
And the stars and I are dancers
