Thistle Down

By Ethel

Life

Most people have someone,
To wrestle in fun.
But I...change my glances,
For I am but one.

I scurry to corners,
To find my release.
And in silent chambers,
I dally with peace.

Where I can await,
My chance there to pause.
And in deep meditation,
Seek the upmost cause.

As to why life dealt,
The way she did to me.
And for the breath I draw,
Who handed out the fee?

That added up my days,
Into a glorious fete.
And in the moments of my time,
Made life so sweet.
