Tiny Lion & Giant Pup

A tiny lion, a giant pup,
Each to the other, the strangest chum.
But this soft pair are the best of friends
To my lovely, ancient, wrinkly mum.
And so they pose for a birthday card
For when she's ninety-one.

(By next Wednesday this photo should be gracing a birthday card for my Ma. Most of her real friends have already passed away, including my father, to whom she was married for nearly 64 years.)
