Splash Of Colour

Not tried a serious close up of anything before and this was the most intense colour around today. The tulips were a present for G from V and are looking rather lovely on the dining table.

Off out gardening today which seemed a bit nuts as it's still February, but still there were things to be done. This seemed a bit more than nuts when we got to the garden and the temperature gauge read 1 degree C and the mist had dropped visibility to about 10 metres. However, my stupidity kicks in around things like this and given there were things to do, I set about doing them. Not finesse gardening by any means, more of grunt and hack and cutting down a poor wisteria that had to make way. And to take out a poorly peach tree.

Of course after all that glamour of cutting things down, the branches had to be cut up for kindling and firewood. That took ages, much to the chagrin of the local bird populace who really wanted to get at the feeder I was working underneath. Still it was all satisfying in that intangible way that things can be when you're not expecting them to be. After lots of hacking/secateuring/sawing the detritus had gone and it was time for tea.
