Twisted Acacia and the Incomplete Moon

The botanical name for the twisted acacia is Acacia schaffneri. It can grow 20' high with a spread of 25' or more. It makes a very picturesque silhouette, with branches that twist and intertwine. The long curving branches are armed with small triple thorns every inch or so. It flowers in the spring with small yellow flower heads that look like small puffballs, so numerous that the whole tree turns yellow. The one in my backyard is among one of my favorite desert trees.

Here is the link to the original photograph, which has been heavily Photoshopped due to the poor lighting at the time.

Thanks and hope you enjoy!
