Vintage
I love to find the right buttons for a project and I often knit something to accommodate buttons I have acquired.
This perspex button is on a cushion I knitted a short time ago - three others I bought at the same time were to adorn another cushion but ended up on a friends waistcoat.
In the background there is a pretty hand painted button - 1 of four I've just used on a cardigan - that I have had for ages and only just found the right use for it. The other blue ones I bought yesterday at the vintage shop in Saltaire and don't have any planned use as yet. You may see they are on hand painted card whereas the previous ones I found by rummaging through an old sweet tin. No doubt this is a marketing ploy so that they can now
charge more.
I even got a cape at a clothing swap last year because I liked the button. It is currently on the back of my daughter's bedroom door as she has plans for the cape when she returns from her travels. She is much more creative than I am when it comes to seeing potential in things. So much so that I handed over my sewing machine to her a few years ago.
