Sweetness and dark

We often hear the phrase 'sweetness and light' but this image of sickly sweet sugar canes against the dark background definitely does not bring 'sweetness and light' to my mind.

The shop where I found them is marketing itself as an old-style sweet shop, and I remember them as being quite dark. But this shop doesn't have a penny tray and nor is there a little old lady who can snap off her fingers because they are made of sugar and then grow again. If I remember correctly she was a character from Mary Poppins called Mrs Corry - not the lady who kept the sweet shop near where I grew up.

The great thing about blipping, for me, is that it gives me a reason for getting away from my desk and actually going outside at lunchtime. Even if the weather is foul it helps clear my head a little.
