Better out than in

It was a beautiful and crisp (-10) day and after an enjoyable lazy morning and a great chat with Kylie I headed out for a ride and to see some art....I always love museums, more specifically modern art museums. To see what boundaries are being pushed and what people are creating NOW. I also LOVE the sounds of musuems, when you first walk in and hear the footsteps and mumbled conversation, and echos through the large hollow galleries. Today I needed some cheering up so figured this modern art museum would be the best place for me to go!

There were some impressive photography exhibitions and an interesting Dada collection, unfortunately MOST of the art and photographs were of naked women. Even in our day and age women are still TOTALLY objectified in art. I was shocked and greatly saddened. I do think womens bodies are beautiful, but so are mens and if we're aiming to live in a world of equality, what the hell are we doing using women's bodies as our ONLY source of expression of beauty or sex or pain or fantasy.

I began a search through the galleries to find a picture of a naked man and all I could find was a photo from 1967of a group of men and women with their naked bodies up against a wall (so no front on nudity). This is not a generalisation or exaggeration, all other paintings of men were of 'gentlemen' looking respectable and controlled, there were photo's of men which were raw, but in no way would they be naked. Oh I was so disappointed with the artists. These aren't modern ideas.

Well, that's my rant. I think I may be on the lookout for some men willing to get naked in front of my camera from now on....and this should make life interesting:-) So I guess there is always a positive!!!!

These 2 were enjoying themselves outside the museum and they made me smile, thankfully!!! :-)
