On a Warm Summer Night, It's Alright

Tonight we were visiting the "Office of Official Parentness".

South Ayrshire Council will celebrating the Achievements of all it's Young People who had been awarded the Duke of Edinburgh Awards. Held in the Town Hall, the youngsters and parents were serenaded in by a Piper , and then segregated into "Guardians and Relatives" Upstairs, while the Award winners and organisers were downstairs.

We got to look at the Beautiful Crystal Ball Chandilers and the rather attractive Organ Pipes.

I got off to a poor start by responding to the Official Introducer's "warm welcome", by shouting "hallo" back to him. Si was mortified, but it was quite an entertaining moment.

I couldn't really hear much else of what he was saying as the sound system, was not the best in the world, but then after about 4 Schools in Alphabetical Order, we noticed that they were showing a presentation on the side with the names of all who were going forward.

Eventually it was Tooliebelle's turn and she dashed across the stage faster than I could grab her.

Once all the schools were awarded, individually, pupil by pupil, about 250 in total, the Buffet was declared "Open". This Sandwich was as good as it gets.

While the parents were being treated to water and a range of unidentifiable goodies, the children were ushered back up on stage, group by group, for photographs.

The Lady Provost found us as we sat contemplating our fates, and complained that she had been invited along, but not one person had asked to take her photograph. She said, she was giving up. I sneaked over the the Official Announcer and told him that the Lady Provost had gone off in a sulk because no one had taken her photo. He looked a bit horrified, and quickly sent runners off to find her and drag her to her rightful place, just left of centre in the remaining photos.

As she ran past me, on her way to her first official engagement of the evening, she grinned wildly.... "Did you tell them?". Offficialdom, It's all about the photographs!
