......Holiday, Celebrate....
So, it's 6.15.... on the 3rd day of the half term holiday...... and I've just finished marking my Year 11 GCSE coursework.
That's 72 pieces of coursework.
That's approximately 72,000 words plus graphs, charts and tables.
That's over 220 Post-it notes from me, offering over 600 words of advice on how to gain more marks.
The Research Task on Transplants was generally very well done with all of the students getting marks above the magic "C" barrier.
The Data Task on "Analysing the results of an investigation into the factors affecting enzyme action" was pretty poorly done , with most of them ducking under the barrier. So more work to do with them on that one then, all they had to do was draw two graphs and spot patterns, anomolous results and suggest reasons for them and then plan another similar investigation.
The Science in the News task was a bit of a bugger to mark as the topics chosen by the students ranged through:-
Should whale hunting be banned?
Should we spend time in the Sun?
Should old people be allowed to drive?
Should we stop giving crisps and chips to children?
Should the drink-drive limit be zero?
and
Are asteroids a threat to us?
But......most got over the C barrier and only 9 of them have some tweaking to do.
So....I've got two days of my holiday left....what should I do?
Oh....wait...that's right I'm booked at the surgery tomorrow for the long awaited blood test at 9.00 and then a doctor's appointmant at 4.00 so that buggers up any big plans for tomorrow.
Never mind, there's always Friday...but what's this....the weather for Friday...raining all day....oh whoopee!
I know , I know....... I played crib Sunday night when I got back from Dad's...and I went to the quiz Monday night....and I got about three and a half hours fishing yesterday.
Teachers eh, they only work from 9.00 until 3.00 and they get three months holiday, lucky sods.
