The final day

Today I woke with a big lump in my throat. My last day of maternity leave. Ethan decided to have an early (6am) start again - perhaps he was trying to pad the day out?

I had to pick some things up that I'd ordered on line from Debenhams so off to The Centre we went. Also popped in to Boots to get the pharmacist to look at Ethan's toe. It did look like it was clearing up until last night, when it suddenly looked worse. I'd hoped I could get something over the counter but the pharmacist said it's infected and will need antibiotics, so I had to phone the Health Centre to make an appointment for this afternoon.

Ethan fell asleep in the car on the way home so I moved him to the sofa where he slept for an hour. Lunch quickly followed when he woke up and then we went back to Almond Valley Heritage Centre to meet my friend Lesley and her wee boy Logan. It was a glorious day so the boys had great fun on the slide, swing and trampoline. Logan is 3 months older than Ethan and walking really confidently - apart from when he kept falling in the mud! Ethan clearly decided he wanted to get muddy too and kept trying to crawl off the trampoline into the mud. We had to go straight from there to the doctors and it was a bit embarassing when I realised quite how muddy Ethan was! He was prescribed antibotics which he has to take for the next 5 days, so I'm hoping the nursery will be happy to administor them next week.

Granny and Grandpa had arrived at our house when we got back. They will be babysitting Ethan every Friday (one of the reasons I've chosen to start back at work on a Friday, so I don't have to cope with my first day back AND nursery)!

Very, very sad my maternity leave is now at an end. It has been the most tiring 14 months of my life but I've loved being a SAHM for Ethan for this time. I know I'm very fortunate to have had so long off work - just wish I could do it all again.
