We are a family of four boys, three sons and myself. We lost my wife (the boys' mother) to cancer the summer of 2008.
I like to take pictures of pretty much everything, but while I love landscapes I seem to do better at portraits, especially of the boys.
This journal is to try and get me to think about taking a picture a day, to be aware of my daily life, with my boys and others around me.
Our family home is in Dalarö, Sweden but I decided to vacation in South Africa to get away from the pain at home. We have been here in Knysna for the last two winters, which has been very therapeutic for me.
Losing a wife (or loved one) is not something I would wish on anyone. It has, however, made me change my views on life in many ways. I now live life and don't worry too much about the past, nor the future. I have discovered that I am more aware of things, and others around me, than I have ever been before. It's like my senses (finally) woke up.
Enjoy!
Edit: About time that I changed the name of this journal. We are now a family of 4 boys and 4 girls and are living permanently in South Africa.
Edit: After a year off I am back (if infrequently) inspired by Anna and her developing rituals.
Edit: The previous stink didn't last very long. But I'll try again.
Lots of changes in our family. Tonya and I finally married last year. I wasn't blipping so no pictures of the event. Life's been good. The family continue to age, but fortunately not grow (still only have the six kids). Mika out of school. Leo finishing this year, Kyla and Viggo next year. Pretty soon our house is going to a much lonelier place. I'll have to get some more blips so I have some memories of them all.
