March 2014 – So it’s about time I put something in here then . . .
1. I am a ‘Wrinkly’ – I do not like terms like ‘Senior Citizen’. OAP fits the slot as does ‘Old F***’, but Wrinkly says it as it is. (Mrs W will tell you that ‘Old F*** does as well . . . )
2. I was in mechanical and electrical engineering for most of my life, including some seven years in the Merchant Navy as a Marine Engineer – that was back in the late 60’s/70’s before I married Mrs W.
3. Photography has been a hobby since before I left college (a long long time ago), but in more recent years (that’s 20 30 or 30 40) I got into video rather than stills. Mrs W introduced me to Blipfoto a year or so ago but I didn’t do anything until after I had a new telephone for my birthday last year (November 2013), and found that it took better (still) photos than my HD video camera. I have not looked back and don’t think I’ve missed a day. Currently I use either my telephone (Samsung G3 J6 A14) or a hand-me-down from Mrs W (Canon EOS 400D).
Update – December 2014 – I have now progressed to a (second hand) Canon 7D, and the 400D is on the way to be converted to infra red . . .
. . . update on the update - the 400D has now been converted!

Sadly the 7d is dead.
Update on the Updates – November 2018
I have now progressed to a Canon EOS R with the 24-105 lens. The Canon 7D is still kicking around.
Update on the updates - added a Sony DSC-RX100M3 for my birthday (Nov 2021) and it’s proved a brilliant tool to supplement the Canon and the telephone.
Update on the updated updates – October 2023,
I have now traded in the EOS R for an EOS R6m2. My birthday present for November (the big 80)!
4. Variety is the spice of life, and I like to embrace as many aspects of photography as I can, and enjoy learning new techniques with both the cameras and processing. If at all possible I like to introduce humour into everything I do.
Do I get the job?

Stars and Favs
My approach is to give a star when I have commented on a Blipper that I follow, and where appropriate enhance my comments with particular praise etc. Not necessarily for the quality of the photo, but for the ‘blip’ as a whole. This, apart from anything else, gives me a book mark to say I’ve been here already . . . Alternatively I will leave a star without comment where I spot something that I particularly like, usually for the photograph, and usually to someone that I don’t usually follow – a quick “Hello, I like this”.
Favs on the other hand are a different thing altogether. I give very few of these, and only when I’ve been particularly impressed with a blip/photo, or for a Blipper’s special occasion, or where I have accidentally caught the ‘fav’ icon on the telephone (most annoying!).
Comments and ‘Thank you’
I endeavour to say a thank you whenever someone leaves a comment, I think that is just good manners. If someone leaves a random star then I am not the best at thanking the blipper, even though I will often visit their blog, and I don’t expect a thank you when I leave a random star (unlike comments). If I do get a random ‘Fav’ I usually drop by to say thank you.
