I'm an English and French student from the University of Warwick, but originally I come from Southport. I have started my blip on the very first day of my year abroad teaching in France, and have now been going for over a year. I figured that by documenting both the highs, and the lows, of this year would mean that I would have a record that truly shows what life is like in a new country. Once I came home, and started my final year at university, I decided that I would carry on with Blip thanks to the great reaction I have had over this past year. What to expect from me? Well I am pretty much continuously behind, and always catching up...but that is mainly because I write so much!
So why Transitoire? Since moving out I've realised that both good and bad things, however important they may be to you at the time, sometimes just fade away without you even noticing. So perhaps by taking one photograph a day I can fix some of these moments.
I don't think I particularly have any kind of "genre" that I stick to; I'm mainly just bumbling along and learning on the job - so any advice would be great!
Since my time on Blip, I've realised that portraiture really is becoming my "thing". It seems to me that I function better when I have a living, breathing thing in front of me. I mean, I love taking other, static things but they never seem to come out just the way I see them in my head. On the other hand, things that live, and move...they seem to be that which I am most drawn to. Hence the number of portraits on here, people seem to just represent my life a lot better than anything else.
My posts on here are somewhat lax of late, but this is due to a hugely busy year of teacher training back in Liverpool. Once more, I will catch up...sometime!
